To promote the new Google Assistant, Todrick was asked to create a promo on a special set they built with video walls. Given our extensive history of working together, he asked me to create the display for the video walls, shoot the promo, and then do a hand-drawn animation effect that he saw me experimenting with in previous videos.
I shot him on a greenscreen and used the footage to make a video display that transitions from a room to a glittery wonderland with duplicates of him dancing. We filmed him dancing live against the screens at the NY Google studios, followed by long nights of hand-cramping animation and rotoscoping.
